🔥Corona effect

Have you ever think about the situation at the point in which air is acting as a conductor?🤯🙄??let we understand the working of this phenomenon_

Sir,Nikola Tesla who invented AC ( Alternating Current ) which is a back bone for our all electric systems.Thomas Edison who have invented the direct current.But there are many difficulties with DC because it is unidirectional,the transmission of DC is not possible for the long distances because the higher amount of power get lost in the form of heat dissipation.

First of all we have to know about the current.

We all know that our whole universe is formed with some fundamental microscopic particles which are

• Electron
• Proton
• Neutron

In which proton are possitively charged particles Neutron are neutral these particle are closely bounded with the nucleus.Nucleus is a very denser part of atom.And the negative charged particles ( electron ) revolve around the nuclei in the elliptical orbits.The necessary centripetal force is produced through the force of attraction between positively charged nuclei and the electron which gives the moment to the electrons for revolving around the nuclei.Negatively charged particles are called the charge carriers.

In simple words the flow of electron or charge carriers is the main cause of electricity or current.

The electricity that is illuminating our homes today is 220 volts and 50 Hertz frequency.But that voltage is not the actual voltage which comes from the power house.But there is high tension voltage current transmitted from the power house and the step down transformer get down this higher voltage to the 220 volte value for our regular use.

Those high tension transmission lines in which almost 400kv to 1000kv (killow voltage) voltage flows there is seen that the condition of potential gradient.

Potential gradient is the condition in which fluctuation of voltage takes place with the variation of distance.Air is a dielectric medium means ,it act like a insulater.At normal temperature and pressure the value of dielectric constant of air is 30kv/cm that means if the value of dielectric constant value cross the limit of 30kv then it gets break down.

The similar case happens with the high tension charge carrier or conductor line.The air around the these lines get ionised and the dielectric breakdown occure and then the air act like a conductor and shows the voilet luminous view this is known as corona effect.it is a one type of loss of our transmission line.

.This loss can be reduced by applying the distance between two transmission lines.
